MATTHEW REDEKOPP, P ENG, CEM, LEED AP

Founder and CEO

Born and raised in Winnipeg, Matthew Redekopp is a seasoned energy management expert with almost two decades of successes. Matthew has worked in industries ranging from education to healthcare, commercial to institutional facilities.

In 2008, Matthew founded Rede Energy Solutions out of a desire to be of service to Indigenous, Northern, and rural Canadian communities.

Since then, Matthew has brought together a nimble team engineers and energy efficiency professionals who specialize in rural and remote K-12 school facilities, institutional buildings, and complex building environments. Matthew has designed robust energy management programs. His clients have saved hundreds of thousands of dollars, while contributing to conserving our planet.

Matthew and the entire team at Rede unabashedly love rural and Northern life. He appreciates that the land is right in front of him, and it informs everything he does and the person he is. This perspective diffuses into his family and work life, and he always prioritizes the communities and people around him. Just like the rural and remote communities he works with, Matthew strives to remain tuned in.

Highly personable, a consummate learner, a generous philanthropist, Matthew lives life to the full. When he’s not connecting with communities, Matthew is enjoying the many benefits of rural life on Bowen Island with his wife and young children.

MARCO BIERI, P ENG, M ENG, M SC, CEM

Energy Efficiency Engineer

 If you’ve had the opportunity of working alongside Marco Bieri, you’ll know his unrelenting commitment to doing an outstanding job.

With an impressive list of credentials to his name, Marco has worked hard to become an expert in his chosen fields of recommissioning, auditing and project management; data analysis and measurement verification; and mechanical and electrical system evaluation.

‘Less is more’ has been Marco’s life compass and hence building a professional life in energy efficiency was a natural progression. His love for exploration, nature, and a healthy work life balance aligns with Rede’s mandate of reducing the energy impact of rural school districts.

Marco spent the first decade of his life in Switzerland, followed by his formative years in Sicamous, BC. This background has shaped Marco to be the perfect fit for work in beautiful Western Canada.

While not on excel or zoom – Marco can be found in the mountains or behind a drum kit. ‘No calorie left behind’ is a great motto for carrying supplies while enjoying the backcountry -why not transfer this to your facility?

ERICA LETCHFORD, BID, LEED AP ID+C

Director of Operations

Simply put, Erica is a skilled project manager.

But that description doesn’t do justice to her experience, commitment, and approachability. Combined with her background in design and green buildings, Erica has a knack and talent for organization. She’s able to dive deeply into the details while keeping the big picture in play.

Energy efficiency and sustainable design has been the heart of Erica’s career. Erica has worked for over a decade on residential, commercial, and institutional facilities to reduce energy consumption and operating costs – all while ensuring spaces remain purposeful and comfortable.  

Operations and project management are a natural extension of her personality. She inspires creative problem solving but guarantees realistic results.

Erica revels in Rede’s particular focus on improving existing buildings.  After all, if we’re going to win the battle of climate change mitigation, this is one of the most important places to start.

Born and raised in Edmonton, Erica has now embraced the milder climate of the West Coast where she has started a small mixed-crop farm.
